Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to visit Belagavi tomorrow
Belagavi: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will visit the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) here on Monday. He will also visit the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre.
Recently, leaders from Belagavi, including MPs Prabhakar Kore and Suresh Angadi, met Mr Parrikar and urged him to help promote defence sector industries in the city. His visit is expected to give a big boost to “Make in India” campaign in Belagavi region. Belagavi-based Servi Controls Aerospace India Private Limited (SCAIPL), which provided crucial position sensors for Mars Orbitor Mission (MOM), has taken the lead to make the "Make in India" campaign a success in Belgavi region.
The company is expected to place a proposal before Mr Parrikar to prevail upon his Ministry to procure defence-related equipment from it on a regular basis instead of importing the same. Mr Parrikar will inaugurate the “Sleep Science Centre” of KLE Society in the city.
