Hyderabad: A woman and her two aides cheated around 26 job hunters taking several lakhs from them after offering jobs in the Indian Railways. The accused Bhagavathula Lalithamma, collected Rs 1.6 crore and took the victims to Kolkata for training. However, later the victims found it was a fraud. CCS police arrested the accused.
The 30-year-old Lalithamma, who is a native of Kurnool, lured victims including B.Tech graduates from across the state using her agents. “She offered jobs as ticket collector, assistant station master and section engineers in Eastern Railways, Kolkata and collected huge amounts ranging from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh from each of them,” said Dr T. Prabhakar Rao, the Joint Commissioner of Police, CCS.
The accused and her aides D. Sashibhushan Rao and Chandrasekhar also fooled the victims by sending forged appointment letters to them. Police officials said that Lalithamma was earlier involved in similar cases.
