Akshath, Anirudh hit centuries

Dinesh Karthik slams 142; Vishal picks 5 in Dowlah games

Hyderabad: P. Akshath Reddy hit a swashbuckling century as Hyderabad XI defeat Air India by 127 runs at the Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup cricket tournament being played here on Friday.

Air India were bowled out for 338 in their second innings with Vishal Sharma picking 5/73 for the hosts. Akshath Reddy then played a crucial knock of 113 which included nine fours and two sixes as Hyderabad XI post 251/4 in 40 overs in their second essay. Chasing 379 to win, Air India could manage only 251/4 in 40 overs.

In another match, MRF beat Food Corporation of India (FCI) by 10 wickets. Resuming the day at 34/4, FCI collapsed to 100 in 25.4 overs in their second innings. Needing just 88 to win, MRF got there in 12.5 overs without losing a wicket.

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Dinesh Karthik’s scintillating 142 helped India Cements defeat ONGC by 146 runs. India Cements made 265/3 in 40 overs, setting a target of 347 runs for the opposition. ONGC managed only 200/6 in 40 overs in their second innings.

Meanwhile, B. Anirudh scored a brilliant century as Hyderabad President’s XI drew their game against the Sri Lankan developmental side. Anirudh’s steady 101 helped the city side post 284/4 in their second innings. The match had to be called-off due to rain when Sri Lanka were 138/6, just eight runs short of victory.
