BBMP mayoral poll: BJP takes to social media against ‘unholy alliance’
BENGALURU: In order to condemn the “unholy” alliance between leaders of Congress and JD(S) for capturing power in BBMP, leaders of the state BJP have launched a campaign against the ruling Congress on the social media. Those heading the IT wing have launched a series of tweets against the Congress, while top leaders have asked party workers to tweet constantly against the Congress for hijacking the mandate.
Among these tweets are “democracy in peril, Congress party insulting the mandate,”and “Congress lacks majority, but resorts to a circus to loot BBMP”. Sources in the party said BJP leaders have criticised the Congress in a series of posts on Facebook too. The leaders plan to step up the campaign once both Congress and JD(S) members officially elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Meanwhile, leaders of Congress have displayed large posters against the BJP on mobile vans, focusing on the misrule in BBMP during the last five years. On Friday, leaders of BJP organised a rally at Town Hall to condemn the “unholy” alliance between leaders of Congress and JD(S). They were, however, severe in their criticism of Congress leaders.
