Mangaluru: Annoyed over the silence of elected representatives on Yettinahole river diversion project, various organisations in Dakshina Kannada district have decided to intensify their struggle on the lines of the Kalasa-Banduri protest in North Karnataka.
People are angry with elected representatives as work on Yettinahole project has already started in Sakleshpur. Bunds are being constructed but no elected representative of DK district has raised his voice against this, say activists.
The project involves diversion of water from Yettinahole to parched districts like Chikkaballapura and Tumakuru. Netravathi Nadi Tiruvu Yojane Virodhi Horata Samithi of Uppinangady has called for a protest rally and Rasta Roko on September 15.
