Inter girl Bhavani’s suicide note blames her lecturer
Hyderabad: The suicide of 17-year old Intermediate first year girl K. Bhavani on September 1 in Nalgonda took a new turn on Thursday after her parents found a suicide note, purportedly written by her, stating that a lecturer’s harassment forced her to commit suicide.
Bhavani hanged herself to death on September 1. Parents and relatives who were unaware of the reasons behind her suicide conducted her last rites on the same day. However, a suicide note was found in her relative’s house, located adjacent to her house, on Friday, in which she said her lecturer Srinivas used to harass her and other girls in her class.
Angered at this, her parents, relatives and student organisations held a dharna in front of the college demanding arrest of the lecturer. They later held a demonstration in front of the police station too. Her parents Suraiah and Manemma said their daughter had complained about the lecturer earlier, but the college management had ignored it, and that this resulted in her death.
They withdrew the agitation after the police promised to track down the lecturer who had fled after the suicide and to book a case against him. Parents lodged a complaint with the police against the lecturer.
