Cops ask Peter Mukerjea: Why didn't you look for her?
Mumbai: It is learnt from police sources that Peter Mukerjea went completely silent when the investigating officer raised suspicion on why he didn’t care to find out more from his wife Indrani about Sheena Bora, after she “suddenly left for the US”, without personally informing a single person known to her. On Thursday, Peter was questioned for a third time by the Khar police and this time it was in detail on what all he knew about his son Rahul’s relationship with his soon to be daughter-in-law Sheena. Rahul and Sheena were engaged and had plans to marry within a year.
Presently, Peter is being asked a lot of questions based on the questions earlier put before his wife Indrani, son Rahul and the two accused S. Rai, who was his loyal employee for several years, and Sanjiv Khanna. The police source denied revealing the statements given by Peter, but spoke about a few of the several questions posed to him. Peter was asked why he did not take his son Rahul seriously when he talked about filing a missing person’s complaint after Sheena’s sudden disappearance.
“He was asked whether he knew that Sheena used a second passport as alleged by his wife. He was asked why he never cared to speak to Sheena even once and convinced her to stay back or even check on her safety all these years,” said the source. Rahul, Sheena and Sheena’s brother Mikhail had told Peter that Sheena was Indrani’s daughter. Coming out of the denial mode, Peter admitted that the trio told him about this fact, but he chose not to believe them.
It is learnt that Peter was happy that the relationship between Rahul and Sheena did not work out, as Sheena and Indrani were closely related and his son’s marriage to Sheena would have sent a bad message in their family and friends’ circle. It is learnt that after the interrogation, Peter left the police station at 11.30 pm.
