Bengaluru: Errant building owners to face action
Bengaluru: The state government will be taking up a drive to disconnect power and water supply to high rise buildings, which have not received occupancy certificates.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Home Minister Mr K.J. George said that the Fire Force had completed survey of the buildings, which have violated the plan. The BWSSB and ESCOMS would be asked to disconnect power and water supply to these buildings, he said.
As per the survey, there are over 14,000 buildings, which have violated fire safety norms. Among them, more than 13,000 are in Bengaluru itself. Mr George said that most of the buildings obtain NOC from the fire department before starting construction of high rise buildings. However, there would be deviations, which would affect fire safety norms.
These buildings have not obtained Occupancy Certificate from the respective local bodies. The Fire Department, which has identified these 14,000 buildings, will ask BWSSB and ESCOMS to disconnect supply to these buildings, he added.
