Rude attitude by discom personnel angers citizens

Citizens’ repeated complaints about unscheduled cuts fall on deaf ears as power department officials’ continue to shrug off the responsibility and keep making excuses. Moreover, the issue of attendants at the ‘Fuse of Call’ centres taking complaint calls being extremely rude and unfriendly has been unattended for years now.

After making several phone calls to the local ‘Fuse of Call’ centre and later contacting the respective AD, citizens’ end up feeling harassed by the attitude of officials. “I have been facing mental harassment from the electricity department for several weeks. Every day power goes around 10 am and gets restored only between 5 pm and 6 pm, that too after making several phone calls. I always notice that there is no disconnection of power in the ministers’ quarters exactly opposite to my residence. When I try to contact them, their phone is either busy or when they lift the phone they keep it aside. Whenever it gets connected then they take the call and talk very rudely. The AD whose number was given to me kept dilly-dallying on the issue and said that a notice was given in a newspaper, which was also not true,” wrote Deccan Chronicle reader, Lahherr Agarwal.

When contacted the FOC, the number remained unanswered despite several attempts and on two occasions when the phone was lifted, it was kept aside for several minutes. Having faced the issue on several occasions, citizens’ end up feeling being taken for granted.

“This is a regular attitude of the officials and registering an electricity complaint turns out to be harassment due to the attitude of the people who attend calls. Higher officials need to take a note of the issue and address it,” said M. Krishna, a resident of Asifnagar area who had faced a similar problem.
