Bandh? What Bandh?

Bengaluru: The all-India strike call by 10 trade unions kept buses off the streets but barring incidents of stone pelting on buses, the biggest loss was to the exchequer. B.T. Manohar, Chairman, FKCCI State Taxes' Committee, estimated that the 12-hour bandh made the state exchequer poorer by Rs 120 crore as tax revenues, while state finance department officials estimate the loss could be between Rs 800 and Rs 850 crore.

Taxi and autos were plying; Hotels, malls, theatres and petrol bunks and ATMs functioned. Passengers, who arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport on Wednesday morning, however were stranded until BMTC Vayu Vajra buses resumed services after 2 pm.
