Shootout in Gurgaon, gang busted
New Delhi: Four wanted criminals were arrested in Gurgaon after a brief exchange of fire at Sector 10 Wednesday morning. One of them was injured.
The police said it got a tipoff on the presence of four men involved in a murder attempt at Sadar on August 18.
“After spotting the accused in a Santro, we gave chase and intercepted the car near Sector 10,” a senior officer said adding, “We asked them to surrender, (but) they opened fire.”
The four men were traveling in a Santro in Sector 10, a residential part of Gurgaon, just across the Haryana border. According to eye witnesses, the driver of the car shot at the police first. In self defence, an officer shot back.
“Two bullets were fired in all,” said Rajesh Kumar, assistant commissioner of police.
In July, some gunmen had shot at an SUV near a major mall in Gurgaon, causing the car to topple over onto an auto-rickshaw.
