Jayalalithaa TV visual editor held over CM’s video clip

Chennai: Cyber crime wing of the city police on Wednesday arrested a visual editor with Jaya TV for circulating a video clip of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s calling on the hospitalised editor of Thuglak magazine, Cho Ramaswamy at a private hospital. The two-minute long video shows the CM interacting with the veteran journalist, enquiring about his health and wishing him a quick recovery. The CM’s visit which
was shot exclusively by the Jaya TV found its way in Youtube and other social networking sites such as WhatsApp and Facebook and went viral in no time.
An internal inquiry into the incident revealed that the visual editor, Shaktivel (35) alias Puli leaked the video. ‘He had it downloaded from the channel’s database and sent it through WhatsApp to three of his friends residing abroad. One of them shared it to his friends and subsequently the clip went viral,” a senior police officer said.
The Cyber crime wing registered cases under various sections including section 66 A of IT Act (sending objectionable content through communication device), Section 66 B (dishonestly receiving stolen computer resource) and section 408 of IPC (criminal breach of trust by clerk).
