This woman wants a dolphin to help her deliver her baby

Experts warn that such a decision could put even the dolphins in danger

For some people, dolphins can be the perfect midwives to assist their underwater delivery. Sounds unbelievable, right? But this is the choice of Dorina Rosin, a Hawaiian woman who plans to give birth in the ocean surrounded by dolphins.

She is one of the many mothers-to-be featured in Extraordinary Births, a British documentary airing Wednesday night on the U.K.’s Channel 4. Rosin and her husband are in charge of a spiritual healing center in Hawaii and believe that the presence of dolphins will make giving birth a better experience, reports the Metro.

However Hardy Jones, who is the executive director of ocean conservation group Blue Voice, warned that such a decision could prove very dangerous for everyone involved. “You have tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks. They do [also] have white sharks in Hawaii,” he told the Huffington Post.

“If a woman is going to be giving birth, she’s going to be extruding a certain amount of blood. Sharks are attracted by blood. … It’s dangerous for the mother, for her attendants, for the infant, and it’s also dangerous for the dolphins,” he added.
