People call me Geetha’s husband: Actor Nandu

Actor Nandu talks about his passion for movies
Actor Nandu feels that if you have talent, no one can stop you. “Initially I acted in small films and had done small characters. But the big break came with 100% Love, where I shared screen space with Tamannah and Naga Chaitanya,” says Nandu. “I wanted to be an actor and I never confined myself to particular characters. Whatever opportunities come to me I want to take them up. I am ready to play a villain, lead or special role,” he says.
His last few films like Paatasala, 365 Days, Superstar Kidnap and the recent Best Actors, have all been acclaimed. In some of them he was the only lead, while in others, he shared the credit with others. “I am happy to give my best for any film, whether small or big. If you look at all my films, people have never criticised my character, though the film might not have done well,” says Nandu.
Though not many will recall, Nandu had acted in a commercial with Ram Charan six years back. “Popular director Nikhil Advani had directed that ad film. I don’t think anyone remembers me. I acted in it before I entered films. They auditioned me and I got selected for it,” remembers Nandu, adding that Ram Charan, however, recognises Nandu whenever they meet.
Nandu is more popular these days as singer Geetha Madhuri’s husband. “I don’t have any ego problems if people call me Geetha’s husband. I know that she is more popular than me; before I got my break in films, she was already popular. After my marriage to Geetha, her name actually helped me a lot. It’s always an added advantage for me and I became more popular,” he says.
Many have asked Geetha Madhuri to act in films, but she is not interested. “I have told her to act, but she is not interested. I never force her to do anything, but if she acts in films, I will be the happiest person. And if she acts opposite me, it will be a bonus,” says Nandu, adding that the two had acted in a short film, Athidhi. Nandu has also lent his voice for Arya in Size Zero.
“I have lent my voice earlier for a few actors as I wont say no to anything related to films. We never know what will happen in the industry, so I want to grab all opportunities that come my way; it also helps to keep in touch with people,” says Nandu. The actor has now signed a Kannada film, Madhuvana, and is also doing a negative character in a Hindi film directed by Navneet, who worked earlier with Kabir Khan. “I have also signed a big Telugu film where I am going to play a negative character opposite a big actor. I can’t reveal the details of the film now,” he says.
