Namitha’s weight loss secret

Namitha now weighs 76 kilos, after shedding about 18 kilos
Namitha, who started her career in 2002 with the Tollywood flick Sontham, shifted gears and made her Tamil debut with the Vijayakanth-starrer Engal Anna. With her sizzling figure and pretty face, the former Miss India contestant became one of the most sought-after starlets in K’town and did films with the likes of Ajith, Vijay, Prabhas and Sarath Kumar. But when she put on some extra pounds and was no longer slim, she started losing out on film offers.
However, that is a thing of the past now. The actress is back with an all new avatar. Namitha now weighs 76 kilos, after shedding about 18 kilos, and is planning to go down to 70 kilos. Thanks to her new fitness programme which has helped her lose weight in three months time. “I feel I am reborn and starting all over again. It’s a huge transformation,” the actress starts her conversation with DC.
The Billa girl says that her weight gain and then losing out on films was a vicious cycle. “I was not getting any film offers because I looked huge — I started eating more ice creams, pizzas and rice to comfort myself. Exercise and yoga did not help me, but with the Shakshi Wellness programme, I lost weight in my first session itself! I felt reborn, and that has given me the confidence that I can bounce back to films.”
Namitha stayed on in Chennai during her troubled times instead of moving back to her native Surat. “Today whatever I am, it is all because of the love and affection showered by my Tamil fans and my machaans (that’s how she fondly calls all her male fans.)
On asking whether she wants to join politics and serve society, she responded, “Several political parties are inviting me but I feel this is not the right time,” she flashes her beautiful smile. She also quips that she shares a good friendship with Kushboo and would not want to compete against her.
What does she expect from a life partner? “Rather than a millionaire or billionaire, my man should be simple and honest. A person who would take care of me. I am fond of kids and would like to have at least three kids,” she shares. “From today, the future is in my hands and I want to make full use of it,” she signs off.
