French court compensates woman who suffers allergy from wireless radiation
While the world gets excited at free Wi-Fi signals, there exists an individual who claims to be allergic to Wi-Fi. A report by The Times, UK, claims that Marine Richard, 39-year-old woman, is suffering from Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS), which is caused by the exposure to electromagnetic radiation from man-made sources. The report further states that Marine Richard will receive a compensation of £500 from the French Court, for three years continuously.
As confessed by Marine, 'Being allergic to such Wi-Fi signals, she moved to southwest France, in a barn, to stay far away from the society'. Earlier, French courts did refuse such pay disability benefits. However, at present, this case might help such allergic patients to receive compensations in future as well,
What’s the root cause of electromagnetic hypersensitivity?
According to researchers, EHS is basically caused by the 'nocebo' effect, by which an individual just feels unwell with the realisation that Wi-Fi signal is in and around them.
The World Health Organisation stated that electromagnetic sensitivity is ‘characterized by a range of non-specific symptoms that lack apparent toxicological or physiological basis or independent verification.’ The World Health Organisation also mentioned that the symptoms of the condition are non-specific. However, they could include "dermatological symptoms (redness, tingling, and burning sensations) as well as neurasthenic and vegetative symptoms (fatigue, tiredness, concentration difficulties, dizziness, nausea, heart palpitation, and digestive disturbances)."
