Mumbai: “Anushka Sharma, you shouldn’t have distracted his mind”, “Anushka, why did you go to Australia?” were the lines that broke the internet after India’s World Cup semifinal loss to Australia in 2015. The Bollywood actress, girlfriend of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, became the national villain. The fans accused her of causing distraction to Team India’s best player. On Tuesday, the same Indian team won a Test series in Sri Lanka after 22 years under Kohli’s captaincy. One wouldn’t believe but Anushka stole the show on social media once again.

WC 2015 IND vs AUS: Twitter trolls Anushka Sharma after India's World Cup defeat

Having a poor sense of humour and judgement, few fans started congratulating Anushka (on Twitter) for India’s victory. Well, the woman was not even present in the island. Though one may refute stating that the fans were trying to control the damage they did earlier this year but the tone of the tweets did not emit repentance.

The curious case of Sharmas have been a staple joke among the aficionados. With Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Karn Sharma and Anushka’s omnipresence in the tours, the story that did the rounds during Duncan Fletcher’s regime was that the sweet old man often got confused between the Sharmas. A fan, once again, echoed the same sentiments.

But pulling up Anushka, for no rhyme or reason, is definitely going to cause an uproar in the B-town, considering the support she received from her colleagues during the World Cup fiasco.

But some fans did make amends.
