CM and his men behind frequent transfers in BBMP: N R Ramesh

He said that he will be forced to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in this regard

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his cabinet colleagues and a few legislators from his party have been misusing their office by having a hand in massive transfers of BBMP staff in the last five months, alleged BJP city unit secretary N. R. Ramesh on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Ramesh said that despite the centre’s directive to the state government to stay away from transfers of BBMP officials, the BBMP has been seeing rampant recommendations for transfers from Congress partymen and ministers. He said that he will be forced to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in this regard.

The PIL will be filed against Mr. Siddaramaiah, his cabinet colleagues and officials for misusing power by recommending transfers of BBMP officials. Some have thrown their weight behind contractors and pressurised the BBMP administration to release funds by overlooking seniority. This is damaging the financial health of the BBMP, Mr. Ramesh alleged.

In less than 40 days, CM Siddaramaiah had personally issued recommendation letters to three persons for a single post! He recommended C. S. Umashankar, B. T. Mohan Krishna and T. P. Panchakshari for the post of BBMP town planning (South). It’s a known fact that the town planning wing of the BBMP is a green pasture. But, how could three persons be recommended for a single post, he questioned.

Mayor poll date soon

Regional Commissioner M. V. Jayanti is likely to issue a notification fixing the Mayoral poll on September 11. Earlier, sources in the government had stated that the polls would be held on September 9. Since the council section has to issue notices to all the voters seven working days in advance, the polls will be held on September 11.

Congress-JD(S) insult Bengaluru voters: Pralhad Joshi

JD(S) and Congress are faces of the same coin. A Congress-JD(S) alliance for the mayoral polls is akin to insulting Bengaluru’s voters who had outrightly rejected both parties. We have not yet decided on continuing the alliance with JD(S) for the elections to Legislative Council chairman and deputy chairman. I would also like to clarify that we did not fail in making the first move for a BJP-led administration in BBMP. We were in touch with Independent corporators but Congress and JD(S) lured them by offering money.
