Wedding of Shivanna’s daughter: All VIPs head to venue
Bengaluru: The traffic movement was affected on Monday morning and evening, especially during the peak hours, on Ballari Main Road near Palace Grounds, where film star Shivaraj Kumar’s Nirupama was getting married.
Hundreds of cars of VIPs and actors that were heading to the wedding venue caused the traffic jam. Senior police officers were present at the venue controlling crowd and traffic which was a challenge as a large number of VIPs were coming in during peak hours.
Around 80 traffic policemen were exclusively deputed to control the traffic near the entrance and exit gates of Palace Grounds. While the entrance was from the Ballari Main Road, the exit was at the Jayamahal Road which to an extent decongested the traffic, said a senior police officer. “While most of the VVIPs, including the Governor, chief minister and Home Minister came to the venue in the evening, all the other VIPs came during different times helping the police manage the traffic well,” he said.
“All the planning for traffic management was done earlier and everything went off smoothly. The chaos was considerably lesser than what we had expected,” said Mr M.A. Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
