Fire safety: Karnataka High Court orders joint inspections
BENGALURU: Disposing of a PIL filed by Beyond Carlton, a group of family members who had lost their loved ones in the Carlton Towers fire tragedy in 2010, the Karnataka High Court on Monday directed the authorities to conduct joint inspections to ensure that fire safety alarm are installed at all high-rises.
The court directed that fire safety equipment should be installed at all malls and public places. They should be made accessible during emergencies and not kept under lock and key when the public visit these places, it said.
The petitioners had sought directions to inspect all high-rises in the city for fire safety along with regular inspections and the court monitored inspection reports.
Advance bail granted
The high court on Monday granted 10 days of anticipatory bail to advocate Arun Shyam, the second accused in the second rape case registered against Ramachandrapura Math pontiff Raghaveshwara Bharathi. The petitioner had approached the court on the ground that a false case had been registered against him.
Government told to make stand clear on KPSC
The high court asked the state government to make its stand clear by Tuesday with regard to the guidelines for appointment of
chairman and members of KPSC.
