Bengaluru: Woman leaps to death from 13th floor

Isha was a happy youngster, who was in a relationship which was going through a rough patch for quite some time

Bengaluru: A 26-year-old woman jumped to her death from the 13th floor of an upscale apartment on Haralur Road under H.S.R. Layout police station limits on Sunday night. The deceased, Isha Handa, hailed from Mumbai and settled down in the city three years ago. Isha was working as a beautician before becoming a marketing executive for a high-end salon and spa brand, the police said.

The incident occurred between 8.30 pm and 9 pm on Sunday when Isha had gone to the 13th floor terrace of the Sobha Classic Apartment on Haralur Road off Sarjapura Road in Eastwood Township. Isha was staying at a rented house on Old Airport Road along with four others, the police said.

Isha died on the spot. A few residents and the security personnel informed the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Victoria Hospital for the postmortem. “There was no suicide note, but there were some ‘emotional’ write-ups in her diary and a couple of Whatsapp messages that are being probed,” said a senior police officer.

The police team is investigating whether Isha had gone to Sobha Apartments to meet someone and committed suicide after the meeting. The police are also not ruling out the love affair angle behind the suicide.

Her friends and roommates told the police that she was a happy youngster, who was in a relationship which was going through a rough patch for quite some time, the police said. Her parents in Mumbai, who were informed on Sunday night, reached the city Monday morning and received Isha’s body after the postmortem, the police said.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at the H.S.R Layout police station and the police are investigating further.
