CCS police arrested 6 people for cheating businessman

The main accused, who is from Nigeria, convinced the victim through Facebook chat

Hyderabad: The CCS police arrested six people, including three Nigerians, for cheating a businessman of lakhs in the name of a restaurant. The main accused, who is from Nigeria, convinced the victim through Facebook chat that he has sent USD 1 lakh in an electronic container through cargo and asked the victim to pay customs charges.

The victim, C. Sadhashiva, deposited Rs 1.6 lakh as customs charges and another Rs 2 lakh for delivering the cargo. However, later he realised that he had been cheated as the cargo never arrived. The victim and his friend went to Mumbai to take the cargo and had met one of the accused named Mahesh Damodar Rajput. However, after taking money Mahesh disappeared. Police said the main accused Onuoha Nnanna Francis from Nigeria got in touch with the victim through FB.

The Nigerian accused are Onuoha Nnanna Francis, 34, Valentine O. Anu-maka, 28, and Eze Victor, 35. The others were handling bank accounts for the Nigerians. They are Samadan Laxman Mali, 21, Rahul Dilip Kharde, 25, and Mahesh Damodar Rajput from Thane.
