We have open mind, says PM
New Delhi: Speaking about the Land Ordinance in his 20-minute radio talk, Mr Modi, referring to political opponents, said a lot of doubts had been created over the land law and fear instilled in farmers even though the states had suggested amendments to the 2013 law to benefit villages and villagers.
The government had issued the ordinance thrice so far as the Land Bill could not be passed in Parliament due to stiff resistance by most of the Opposition parties as well as some NDA allies.
The PM’s announcement on Sunday makes it clear that the government would try to use the legislative route to enact the law, instead of the executive mechanism.
Insisting that the voice of farmers mattered the most to him, Mr Modi said, “The government has an open mind. I am ready to accept any suggestion for the benefit of farmers.”
