Venkaiah Naidu: We will give AP special status
The minister said that a report would be soon submitted to PM

Nellore: Union minister Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said that the NDA government would not backtrack on its election promise of according special category status to AP.
He told reporters at Venkatachalam that he had already met with NITI Aayog members and discussed various issues concerning AP, including special status and concessions for setting up industries. The minister said that a report would be soon submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after which he would make a statement.
Reminding that nine states were demanding special category status, he said that in order to meet these demands, there was a need to bring a law. This, he said, was the reason behind the delay.
He said that a special session of Parliament will be convened in September to discuss the special category status.
