Hyderabad: The income tax department had attached Rs 1,250 cr from the Telangana treasury for dues payable by the beverage corporation of undivided AP.
Union minister M. Venkaiah Mr Naidu requested Union finance minister Arun Mr Jaitley to return the amount at the earliest, keeping in view Telangana’s dire need of funds for its welfare schemes and programmes. According to the press release, Mr Jaitley assured Mr Naidu that the issue would be considered positively and steps would be taken to release the amount in a day or two.
On Saturday, Mr Rajender had accused the NDA government of bias as it had unilaterally deducted nearly Rs 1,274 crore from the state's account towards I-T arrears of Andhra Pradesh Breweries Corporation Ltd in June, pushing the Telangana state government into a financial crisis. He had said that the Centre had ignored requests from the state to the Union finance minister about returning the amount.
