South Africa lady smuggles drugs in her body
Hyderabad: A 32-year-old woman from South Africa tried to smuggle narcotic drugs by concealing it in her private parts and stomach at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Sunday. However, she was caught by customs. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested the passenger and shifted her to Osmania General Hospital to recover the drugs inside her stomach. Officials suspect that the drugs worth '50 lakh was concealed by the accused.
After frisking, officials recovered three sachets concealed inside her body. More sachets were still in her stomach and small intestine. When last reports came in, the doctors at OGH removed around 20 sachets, and was trying to get all the sachets out of her body.
The woman, who came via Dubai to Hyderabad, was caught after her movement was found suspicious. After a body scan and frisking, customs officials found the drugs and alerted NCB officials. The sleuths got suspicious and took her to OGH for verification.
After medical tests and scans, the doctors found that the women had also swallowed sachets.
“She underwent ultrasound scanning and Ileoscopy. It was found that some more drugs are left inside her body,” said an official.
The doctors are also exploring surgical procedures, if they cannot get the drugs out normally. The sleuths have sent the drugs to laboratory to identify it, while the accused is yet to speak up about her background.
The officials are yet to confirm who she was working for, and who are the receivers in Hyderabad waiting for her. “We will be interrogating her thoroughly after the medical procedures,” said an official.
