Hyderabad Marathon: Runners stay cool amid ‘heat’

The temperature in the morning at around 8.30 was around 24ºC

Hyderabad: A breezy weather in the morning followed by a warm one towards the end of the run was a blessing for the runners participating in the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon on Sunday. The temperature in the morning at around 8.30 was around 24ºC.

Compared to the previous year, this was far better, opined many of the runners, especially those who ran the longer distances. Runners from other cities, however, did find it a bit difficult because of the number of up-hill tracks.

“The runners of 21 km and 42 km category were extremely happy with the cool weather. Hyderabad is one of the toughest city marathons and a hot weather would have made it more tiring for the runners,” said Gupta Kandula, organising committee member. At 67 per cent, the humidity was a bit on the higher side. However, the cooling stations and the 3,000 volunteers ensured that runners didn’t face discomfort. There were three cooling stations, each located after a distance of 10km.
