Captured terrorist Sajjad's family traced to Pakistan
Mumbai: The family of Sajjad Ahmed, the lone terrorist who was caught alive from Rafiabad area in North Kashmir, have confirmed that he is from Pakistan and is a resident of Muzaffargarh area.
According to a report in a leading daily, which contacted Sajjad's cousin in Pakistan, Sajjad did little to earn a living and left home two-and-half years ago, never to be seen again. The recent arrest of Sajjad, which was widely reported in both Indian and Pakistani media has come as a huge shock and has left the family distraught, his cousin Assad said.
The contact number was provided by Sajjad during interrogation by the authorities and his father's name was verified to be Faiz Baksh, the same name as told by him during the interrogation.
Sajjad, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, was found crying in a cave after soldiers used chili grenades to flush him out of his hiding spot during an encounter.
The Jamaat-ud-Dawah (LeT in Pakistan) is very active in Muzaffargarh and the family had suspicions that Sajjad may have been kidnapped by the Jamaat, his cousin said. His cousin, reported the daily, made incessant requests to talk to Sajjad.
