Congress President Sonia Gandhi to steal the show in Bihar
Patna/New Delhi: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the NDA’s campaign in poll-bound Bihar, the stage is set for the grand alliance of the JD(U), RJD and the Congress to flex its muscle at the iconic Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Sunday.
Clearly aware of the importance of the rally, Congress president Sonia Gandhi will share the dais with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
Mr Modi has addressed two rallies so far, the first in Muzaffarpur and later in Arrah. The Prime Minister will address another rally in Bhagalpur on Monday for which former MP Shahnawaz Hussain and Buxar MP Ashwani Kumar Choube have been camping there for days.
Even while the Sunday Patna show, being called the “Swabhiman rally”, is intended to be a display of solidarity and aimed to give the message that the grand alliance is together in the real sense, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will stay away, apparently after his party was ignored in the seat adjustment. Mrs Gandhi will be accompanied by Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The leaders of the grand alliance have billed the Patna rally to be grand. “This rally will be historic. Our workers are regularly updating that a huge crowd is coming to Patna to attend the rally,” state Congress president Ashok Choudhary said.
