Youths’ flash mob and street play for Smart city drive
COIMBATORE: The weekend for a bunch of young students started with giving social messages through street play and flash mob. The programme was organised by My India My Creation (MIMC), a youth club of Aalam Vithai Charitable Trust to create awareness on Smart City 2025.
The flash mob gave around eight messages with interesting dialogues to reach out to the crowd on topics like rainwater harvesting, planting trees, child labour, health and nutrition of women and children, etc.
After the meeting on ‘shape your city’ held earlier this month on IC Centre for Governance, Coimbatore, in association with district administration and city municipal corporation, “we are assigned to promote collaborative programmes for all the organisations creating awareness on various topics,” said Chakravarthy Karthikeyan, founder and president of MIMC.
As many as 35 members gathered at Singanallur bus stand from 9.30 am to 11 am and staged the awareness programme based on modeling Coimbatore into a Smart City by 2025. They talked about maintaining clean toilets, planting trees, education for children and youth, rainwater harvesting etc.
“This project of Smart City is based on improving the basic needs such as efficient usage of public properties, creating young entrepreneurs, energy efficiency, green city project etc. We are contributing our best to help our government for this efficient project,” he added.
