Withdraw TD minister: Jagan Mohan Reddy
Hyderabad: YSRC chief and AP Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded that AP CM N. Chandrababu Naidu should withdraw TD ministers from the Union Cabinet to mount pressure for special category status to AP.
Speaking to the media on Saturday at his residence, Mr Reddy asked the CM to make it clear whether he is in favour of special status to AP or not.
He said that the bandh on Saturday in protest against the indifference of the state and Centre to granting Special Status to AP has been successful across the state.
He alleged that Mr Naidu cancelled his Delhi trip on Friday and tried to foil the state bandh by arresting YSRC MLAs and workers.
He said if AP gets special status, every district would become like Hyderabad. He said there was no connection between the 14th Finance Commission and special status.
He said the Finance Commission’s duty is to allot non-Plan expenditure and allot Central devolutions to the states.
The YSRC chief said the Finance Commission did not say anything about special category status to states. It is the duty of the NDC headed by the PM to give special category status.
If the assurance given by a Prime Minister on the floor of Parliament is not implemented then the credibility of Parliament will suffer, he said.
He said that their fight will continue till Andhra Pradesh gets special status and added that the party would take up this issue in the coming Assembly session.
