We’re giving sops sans Centre’s help: Etela Rajender
Hyderabad: Attacking Narendra Modi-led NDA government finance minister Etela Rajender said that the I-T department continued to serve notices to various government wings like Housing Board, HMDA etc., asking it to pay hundreds of crores of rupees within two-three weeks.
“As the new state was formed just a year ago, we expected the Centre to come to our rescue. Leave alone helping the state, it is creating troubles with such actions and by not sanctioning funds,” he said.
He said despite the Centre cutting down funds, the state is implementing welfare schemes on a large scale.
He took a dig at the Centre for not allotting a single rupee for Mission Kakatiya despite the TS government seeking Rs 31,000 crore over a period of four years with the noble intention of restoring 45,000 lakes and water bodies in state.
This is not the first time that the state has levelled allegations of bias against the Centre. Earlier, endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy had alleged that the Centre was discriminating against TS in sanctioning funds for the recently concluded Godavari Mahapushkaralu.
Mr Reddy had said that while TS had sought Rs 700 crore for the event, the Centre had allotted only Rs 50 crore, while it gave Rs 100 crore each to AP and Maharashtra, ignoring the fact that Godavari flowed through five districts in TS and only two in AP.
