Protection of Telugu language demanded

Venugopala Reddy said that Telugu people will get world class Amaravati

Guntur: The public were told to protect ancient Telugu language which gave Telugu people universal recognition. Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam was celebrated here on Saturday on the occasion of 153rd birth anniversary of conversational Telugu language reformist Gidugu Ramamurthy Pantulu.

Addressing the meeting, Guntur West MLA M. Venugopala Reddy said that Telugu people will get world class Amaravati capital soon which would put another feather in the pride of Telugu people. He asserted on the need for protecting the ancient Telugu language which gave universal identity to Telugu people.

MLC A.S. Ramakrishna feared about drifting of Telugu language into a dead language soon due to poor promotion by the public and asked the parents to provide good education in mother tongue Telugu for the protection of the ancient and historical language. Tadikonda MLA T. Sravankumar said that the attraction of English language is the main cause for poor patronage to Telugu language and appealed to the public to encourage Telugu in all possible manner.

Guntur district collector Kantilal Dande said that expanding Telugu to all over the globe is the need of the hour and praised the services of Gidugu Ramamurthy Pantulu for popularising conversational Telugu language. He asked teachers to inculcate the habit of conversing in Telugu language from early childhood which would help protect the ancient Telugu language.

Mr Dande and MLAs presented prizes to the students who stood top in the SSC 2015 exams in the Telugu medium. Students Sk. Azimunnisa, V. Rudra Reddy and A. Naga-karthik and others bagged prizes.
