Over 700 motorcyclists roared through Bengaluru roads on Saturday morning as part of the awareness campaign

BENGALURU: To promote road safety and use of helmet by two-wheeler riders, over 700 motorcyclists representing Indian Army, Bangalore Traffic Police, Harley Owners Group and other volunteers, roared through Bengaluru roads on Saturday morning as part of the awareness campaign.

The event was flagged off by City Police Commissioner N.S. Megharikh and Transport Commissioner Dr Rame Gowda. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic & Security) M.A. Saleem launched wear safety helmet campaign.

“It is observed that the rider tend to wear helmet only on seeing a traffic police. Otherwise the would either hand over the helmet to the pillion rider or entangle it on his left or right elbow,” Saleem said. The city has over 38 lakh two wheelers and during accidents fatalities occur mainly because the riders were not wearing helmet, he added.
