3 Sabari pilgrims from Karnataka killed in accident

The deceased were identified as Vinod, Ramesh and driver Sachin.

KOZHIKODE: Three Sabarimala pilgrims from Karnataka were killed and two others injured seriously when their car collided with a tempo traveller on National Highway bypass at Azhinjillam, near Kozhikode, early on Saturday.

Seventeen passengers of the tempo traveller were also injured and admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College along with the two others.

The deceased were identified as Vinod, Ramesh and driver Sachin. The two injured are Ranganatha and Rahul. All of them belong to Navanagar, Bagalkot district, Karnataka.

The pilgrims were on their way back to Bagalkot after visiting Sabarimala when the accident occurred around 3 a.m.

The local people and the flying squad took out the passengers from the two vehicles and rushed them to hospital.

The bodies of the victims were handed over to the relatives later in the evening.
