KARUR: One person was killed on the spot and 21 others injured in two different road accidents in Karur and Perambalur districts on Friday.
Police said that Krishnamoorthy (34) a grocery merchant of Manachanallur in Tiruchy district was killed on the spot and two others were injured when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a mini lorry near Uppidamangalam in Karur district on Friday.The injured Arulmani (29) and Krishnakumar (31) were admitted to a hospital in Karur, police added.
In another accident, 19 persons were injured when the Tamil Nadu State transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus in which they were travelling rammed into the rear of a lorry near Perambalur on the Tiruchy-Chennai national highway on Friday night.
The bus was on its way to Tiruchy from Chennai when the accident occurred. All the injured including bus driver Balasubramanian (40) of Kancheepuram were admitted to the government headquarters hospital at Perambalur. Except for the driver, all others were discharged from the hospital, police said.
