For Sunil Shetty’s daughter Athiya, stardom does not mean a world of glitz and glamour. She would rather use stardom to help others.
“Apart from acting, I am also passionate about helping people. My mom has always been doing that and watching her, helping people comes naturally to me. Mom takes care of girls’ education and promotes girls through NGOs. She also takes care of physically challenged kids.”
Giving away a secret Athiya adds, “Recently, on receiving reports on women trafficking, we rescued women from certain brothels and we are teaching them how to lead a good life by engaging themselves in some job or the other. We help them to make bags etc. and help them get work in other small-scale industries.”
“We educate them on how to lead an independent life and enjoy their life and look after themselves and their families. I want to do a lot more as I want women from all strata of life to be empowered in every manner possible,” she concludes.
