Water tanker scam: BJP asks AAP why no action against Sheila Dikshit
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday asked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal why action against the ex-chairman of the Delhi Jal Board and former chief minister Sheila Dikshit was being delayed in connection with her alleged role in the water tank scam.
BJP leader Shazia Ilmi asked, "Where are the FIR just to become a politician and a CM and all would to be forgotten. Let's see what is done in this matter."
"It's high time after all thes? Where are the promised action to be taken against Sheila Dikshit and the big powerful companies? We see none of that. Was that done just to come to power, or exposes, all the warnings, all the announcements that were made by Arvind Kejriwal, and this has been done since 2011. What has come out of it? This is 2015 and Arvind Kejriwal has been the CM for the second time, this time for a considerable period of time," Ilmi said.
In January 2015, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had ordered a probe into the alleged irregularities in the functioning of the DJB under chairperson Sheila Dikshit and Mateen Ahmed, a former DJB member.
In 2012, around 400 water tankers were acquired by the DJB. The purchase of these water tankers from private contractors was aimed at ensuring seamless service across Delhi. The capacity of these tankers was supposed to range between three and nine kilolitres.
