Government to issue notification for jobs at VIMS shortly

Visakhapatnam: HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, asked job seekers not to fall prey to agents those offering jobs at Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS). Talking to reporters, here on Friday, the minister, said, state government would issue a notification for recruitment of jobs at VIMS shortly.

VIMS, has been embroiled in a controversy, recently as some agents duped gullible youth in the pretext of jobs at the medical institute. Mr Ganta Srinivas Rao, on Friday visited, VIMS and reviewed the progress of various works with the officials.

He expressed displeasure over the movement of works on snails pace despite, after state government sanctioned necessary funds. He said, the district collector, would probe into the allegations of job fraud and submit a detailed report to the state government. He added, basing on the report, action would to be taken on the concerned. He also said that, VIMS would be discussed at the Cabinet meeting going to be held on August 31.

“We will take all measures to launch the services of VIMS. Its unfortunate that, even after government sanctioned necessary funds, things are not moving on the expected lines. We have asked the VIMS officials to complete works in time bound manner. We will put in efforts so that, VIMS services will be available to the public with four to five months,” said the minister. VIMS officials also gave a power point presentation on the works planned and also the ongoing works.

It was in 2005 that the Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy led Congress government proposed Rs 250 crore worth hospital with 21 super specialty wings to cater to the needs of the people of coastal districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, East and West Godavari. The foundation stone for the project, coming up in 110 acres of land near Hanumanthavaka in the city was laid in 2007.

The target was to complete the project within 16 months from the day foundation is set. The 1,300-bed VIMS with specialisation wings oncology, neurology, trauma care, cardiology, and gastroenterology were planned.
