Fast-track minor rape case, Uttar Pradesh told

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Uttar Pradesh government to fast track the trial in the case relating to the rape of a 10-year-old girl in Bulandshar, on which incident the court in April 2013 had taken suo motu cognizance.

In this incident when the minor and her mother went to the police station to lodge a complaint of rape in Bulandshahr, they were detained for several hours and apex court issued notice based on newspaper report. The bench told the counsel that the trial must be fast-tracked and directed the state DGP to circulate the guidelines on arrest to all the police stations and sought status report.
