Hyderabad: A 17-year-old girl, a native of AP, was allegedly raped by a construction worker in Humayunnagar here. She became pregnant as a result, and he tried to force an abortion by administering her some pills.
Police said the accused, identified as Venkat, used to work at an under-construction building in front of the girl?s house. Nearly six months ago, Venkat befriended the girl and developed a relation with her, police said.
“He promised to marry her and raped her. The girl became pregnant and he gave her some pills due to which she had a miscarriage,” said Humayunnagar police inspector S. Ravinder.
The girl experienced intense pain and excessive bleeding following the miscarriage, after which told her mother of her sordid experience. The mother lodged a complaint with the police who registered a case of rape under Section 376 and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against Venkat. The girl was sent for medical examination and a hunt is on to nab Venkat, who is absconding.
Police said the victim was a native of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh and her family had settled more than 10 years ago in Humayunnagar. Her father is a daily wage labourer, while her mother works as a domestic help. The girl, a school dropout, helps her mother.
