18 soldiers injured in 'accidental' grenade blast during training in Kashmir
Srinagar: At least 18 soldiers were injured, six of them critically, in an "accidental" explosion at an Army camp at Khrew in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday morning.
Army sources said that the blast took place during a training session inside the 15 Corps Battle School.
The injured soldiers were airlifted in two helicopters to 92 Base Hospital at the 15 (Chinar) Corps headquarters at Badami Bagh. Sources said two of them are in “critical condition”.
A defence spokesperson said that rest of the injured have been given first-aid and are "stable".
Police sources said the blast occurred when a group of soldiers were being trained on how to handle an explosive device. However, Army said a probe has been ordered and it would be too early to speak about the cause of explosion.
