Newbie all praise for Gautham Menon

Prem tells DC how he managed to convince Gautham Menon to produce the film
For debutant filmmaker Prem Sai, shooting Tamil Selvanum Thaniyar Anjalum in Tamil and Telugu, especially with a different lead actor was quite challenging. A former associate of Prabhu Deva, Prem is confident that this film will work in his favour.
“The story deals with the life of a courier boy and what changes when he falls in love, forms the crux of the story. When I started writing it, I felt Santhanam and VTV Ganesh were necessary, and hence we roped them in. Though the film was shot both in Telugu and Tamil with a different cast, we made a few changes for each version. Like, since we have Santhanam, the Tamil version has more comedy elements and the Telugu version has additional romantic scenes. Yami Gautam plays a sales girl in a khadi store,” he says.
Prem tells DC how he managed to convince Gautham Menon to produce the film. “I was clear in what I was doing. It’s not a loud film. That was a conscious decision of mine but one that has a lot of subtleties. When I narrated the story to Gautham, he liked it and the film has a fair mix of action, romance and suspense. Initially, we planned to do it only in Tamil. Later, we explored the subject and opted to do a bilingual,” adds Prem.
So was it tough to work with different lead actors for the two versions? He says that he used their individual strengths, and was all praise for Gautham. “He gave me a free hand and didn’t interfere in anything. Gautham himself is a director and he knows how it works. We extensively shot in Hyderabad, though initially we had thought of shooting here in Chennai but couldn’t as we had problems with real locations. The audio launch of the film will be held in a week or two,” concludes Prem.
