Sheena murder case: My husband is being framed, says driver's wife Sharda
Mumbai: Although Indrani Mukherjea's driver Shyamvar Rai confessed of his involvement in the murder of Sheena Bora, his wife believes that he is innocent.
“She (Mukerjea) is rich and I know all poor people are framed in crimes,” Shyam's wife Sharda said.
According to reports, police say he did not take part in Sheena's murder but helped in disposing Sheena's body in Raigad.
Sharda, 26, who came to know about his arrest through media reports, claimed that she was not informed by the police.
She also claimed that Shyam doesn’t have it in him to kill a person. “He is so scared of the dark, he cannot bear even a second without light. How can such a person commit murder?” she said.
Sharda and her children — an eight-year-old girl and a three-month-old boy — have remained in their rented room in a slum in Santacruz.
“If he really committed a murder and disposed off the body, he would have been paid for it. If he had received money, would we have been living in this slum? Would we not have purchased a flat?” she asked.
Sharda also said that Shyam never mentioned anything about the Sheena Bora case. “He never said anything about this. He would sit for drinks with the neighbours but even when he was drunk, he never spoke a word about it.”
Sharda said Rai was fired by Mukerjea about six months ago. “My husband told me that Indrani was going to live outside the country and did not require the services of a driver,” she said.
Rai began driving an autorickshaw. Sharda said his monthly income had come down from Rs 12,000 to Rs 10,000. “It wasn’t much, but I ran the household well with that money,” she said.
