YSR Congress called a bandh on Saturday demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: Police Commissioner Goutam Sawang urged people on Friday, to co-operate with the police in maintaining law and order during the bandh called on Saturday by the YSR Congress, demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh.

On Wednesday, YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had appealed to the people at a public meeting in the city to make the bandh a success.

At the same public meeting, the local YSR Congress legislator Jaleel Khan had instigated people by saying not to allow buses to ply at any cost and damage them if necessary.

The police commissioner has condemned MLA Jaleel Khan's statement and expressed unhappiness about it.

In a press release issued today the police commissioner warned the people not to indulge in violence or create problems for passengers, failing which severe action would be taken.
