Kochi: Here’s a chance to revive the memories of the late President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam who inspired thousands to dream and work.

The Ernakulam district tourism promotion council has rolled out a tour package that includes a visit to Kalam’s ancestral house in the pilgrim town of Rameshwaram.

The three-nights-two-days package is priced at Rs 2950 (AC) and Kalam’s ancestral home visit will be on September 4 and October 15.

The latter date will be the birth anniversary of the eminent scientist who inspired a whole generation.

The government has opened the ‘House of Kalam’ at Pallivasal Street for visitors now,” said a DTPC official.

The package also includes a visit to Dhanushkodi, the death city. It’s the closest point on the Indian coast to Sri Lanka that suffered major damage in a devastating cycl-one in 1964, which washed away the rail bridge connecting it to the mainland.

The tour will also cover the temple town of Madurai and Kanyakumari. The journey starts from Kochi at night. Day 1 will be spent visiting Madurai-Rameswaram and Day 2 ‘House of Kalam’, Rameshwaram sight seeing and Kanyakumari.
