Hyderabad: CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Thursday said the ongoing Patel community agitation demanding OBC status has thoroughly exposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claims on the so-called Gujarat Model of development.
Addressing the media at the CPM state headquarters M.B. Bhavan here, the CPM leader said it is everybody’s belief that the Patel community in general considered as well to do, now resorting to mass agitations across Gujarat only shows the plight of the unemployed and denial of opportunities to several communities across the so-called developed state.
“Where is the inclusive development model Mr Narendra Modi has been claiming all these years in Gujarat. Had there been inclusive development then why are agitations by the well to do community like the Patels taking place?” he said.
He also said the Gujarat Model has been a disastrous failure if one takes several other parameters of development in comparison with other states.
