Congress against extension to Dr Raja Sadaram
Hyderabad: The Congress Legislature Party on Thursday complained to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan seeking action against Telangana Legislature Secretary Dr Raja Sadaram for alleged misuse of power and money. The party appealed to the Governor not to extend his services beyond August 31, as he had been given extension of service twice.
Congress MLC M.S. Prabhakar Rao released the letter written to the Governor to the media and said that he should see to it that a serving officer is chosen as Secretary, Legislature.
Mr Prabhakar Rao alleged that Dr Sadaram had “misused his position and misled both the Speaker of the Assembly and Chairman of the Legisaltive Council while arranging a trip to Australia in January this year.”
He said that he had obtained information from the Legislature Secretariat under the RTI Act which showed that the Australian government had not extended any invitation.
It was only at the request of the Telangana Legislature that it had organised certain programmes in Australia.
Mr Prabhakar Rao alleged, “Dr Sadaram drafted the tour to meet his two sons who are in Australia. (he) misled the Chairman and Speaker, that too at the cost of people’s money.”
He demanded that an inquiry be conducted against the official and the expenses incurred for the tour be recovered from him.
Dr Sadaram is due to retire on August 31 at the end of the one-year extension given by the state government last year.
