Kochi boat tragedy: Oommen Chandy promises detailed inquiry

Kochi: A detailed inquiry will be ordered into the Fort Kochi boat tragedy, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. He was speaking to reporters after visiting the accident victims at Ernakulam Government General Hospital.

He said allegations that it was the pathetic condition of the passenger boat, which was very old, that caused the accident would be probed and necessary steps taken based on the enquiry report.

The government will take care of the treatment of the victims, and financial assistance would soon be released to families of the deceased. Meanwhile, General Hospital authorities handed over bodies of the victims to families after completing post-mortem.
