Bengaluru: Horse trainer held for colleague’s murder
Bengaluru: A 19-year-old horse trainer was arrested on Wednesday evening by High Grounds police on charges of killing his colleague and later disposing of his body in a manhole inside the turf club, situated on race course road on Tuesday night.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning after the employees began a frantic search of the deceased Jaseem Akhtar (28), a native of Kishanganj in Bihar, who had gone missing and later alerted the police.
The accused Sahil Babu, who also hails from Bihar, confessed committing the crime after he was picked-up by the police on suspicion. The duo used to work as horse trainers and were roommates in one of the quarters at the turf club for the last two years.
Police said the accused has stated that Jasim used to harass and torture him for petty issues. Investigation revealed that Jasim and Babu were not in good terms and used to quarrel over trivial issues.
On Tuesday night a fight broke out between them which took an ugly turn when Sahil in a fit of rage took a kitchen knife and stabbed Jasim killing him on the spot. He later dragged the body and disposed it in a manhole and returned to his room to sleep.
The High Grounds police later recovered the body from the manhole and sent it for post-mortem. High Grounds police have registered a case.
